At the age of 9, I knew that I was different. I wanted to heal everyone and everything that was ill and not feeling well including animals of all sorts and humans. At the age of 17 I fell in love with crystals and gemstones and started collecting them because I thought they were beautiful. Little did I know that later that year, my mother would be diagnosed with having Muscular Dystrophy. She had the best neurologist in New York State. He told us that it was rapidly advancing and that she had 5 years left to live at best. The first year, she would walk with a cane. The second year she would walk with a walker. The third year she would be put in a wheel chair and by the fifth year she would die.
She asked me, as the only child, to "find another way." I went back to the store I had started buying all my crystals and gemstones at. I went through all the books they had there. I came across books that taught how to use crystals and gemstones to heal. I bought them. I also saw books that looked interesting on other types of alternative healings, such as Reiki, Aromatherapy, Color Therapy, Reflexology and so forth. Like a sponge, I read and absorbed all the information and started to put it all into practice. At the same time, I tried to find local teachers that could teach me face to face and hands on.
I found my very first Teacher, Rev. Kari Sinclair, who is now passed into the Spirit World. She taught me Reiki 1st, 2nd, and Master/Teacher degrees, in the Traditional style of Reiki. Elaine Haouk taught me Reiki Sechim. Dee Scanlon, also known locally as The Crystal Lady or The Rock Lady taught me much of what I know with Crystals and Gemstones as did David Keys, before he passed on.
Needless to say, I am no longer 17 years old. I am now 43 years old. My mother is still alive and well. She fought it off all these years and I tried to help her as best as I could with these alternative healing methods. She still stands and walks with a cane or walker for the most part. But she has made it for 26 years, when they had only given her 5 years to live. In the 5th year when I took her back to Dr. Taylor, who is now retired, he told us she was in complete and total remission. At this point in my mother’s life, it is more old age getting to her than the Muscular Dystrophy is.
It is with gratitude and appreciation that I thank my mother for setting me on this path to enlightenment. Without her disease, I would have never entered the Spiritual field of Medicine or the Metaphysical plane of all that exists.
